Trust Your Insides
A few months ago, my husband Josh was working sun up to down on a total demo and remodel for our leaking and molded chimney. The hope was DIY to save some money! There were many laborious hours and many trips to Home Depot and Lowes. He was exhausted and just wanted to be done! But this particular evening, there was yet another needed trip to Home Depot. After finishing up the purchase of yet more supplies, he needed gas in the truck… he quickly pulled in to the gas station. He needed to hurry to beat daylight so he could work some more on the chimney. As he was filling up, he saw a young mom with children sitting on the curb. They were clearly in need. He wanted to help but knew he didn’t have any cash and decided there was nothing he could do, plus he was in a hurry! As he drove off, a song started playing on the radio, a song he had never heard before…. “Trust your insides.” As the song continued to play, he heard the lyrics,
“Maybe take your next paycheck and spend it all on some shoes, or you can help someone in need. After all, it’s up to you. “
As soon as he heard this, he knew the Holy Spirit was asking him to do something. No matter if he was in a hurry, no matter if he was exhausted, he had to help. He turned around, purchased a couple of McDonald’s Happy Meals for the kids, and a meal for the mom. It wasn’t much, but it was something. Although it has a quick exchange and a small token of help, they seemed grateful for the food.
He called me to tell me what happened and to tell me that he was going to be a little later. The kids and I were getting ready for bed with baths and snacks. As my daughter was finishing up her bath, I heard her yelling for me. I ran into the bathroom, wondering what was wrong.
“Mommy, mommy, look! Look what I drew!” I looked down at her bath-crayon drawing…. “What is it, baby?”
“This is a gas station, and these are homeless people sitting here on the side of the road. And there is an angel over the gas station.”
I was in shock!
“Baby, what made you draw this?!”
“ I don’t know; I just drew it.” She replied.
I was in total awe! There is no way that she could have heard what my husband had shared with me over the phone. I wasn’t on speakerphone and was on the opposite side of the house when he had called and told me! I yelled for Josh, who had recently gotten home and asked him to look at what she drew!!! Amazed, he shared his story with her!
It was such a special moment for us to share as a family to see God clearly speaking and moving throughout the night! Josh heard the Lord, obeyed, and helped a family out, even though he was hurried and tired. God was working through Kylee to encourage and affirm Josh through her drawing! A drawing that specifically and supernaturally depicted what had just occurred! It was a beautiful divine encounter from the Lord for all of us! I’m so grateful for the ways that the Holy Spirit works through each of us…his gentle whispers, direction, and guidance… through Josh to help out a family in need and through Kylee, prophetically to encourage her Daddy ♥️TRUST YOUR INSIDES. HE lives in you, HE is speaking, HE is leading! Don’t miss it!
